Paxon Community Service Requirements

PLEASE EMAIL YOUR COMPLETED COMMUNITY SERVICE FORMS
​TO YOUR SCHOOL COUNSELOR.

​Deadlines for the Class of 2024:

Jan. 12, 2024-All service hours should be submitted by this date in order to be in Focus for when Bright Futures information is pulled in February (otherwise, you will not show as qualifying due to lack of service hours until June/July)

Mar. 28, 2024-This is the deadline for ALL SENIORS to have service hours submitted to your school counselor. We can not guarantee that hours submitted after this date will be posted to Focus in time for Bright Futures to pull the information.

Paxon students are required to earn a minimum of 75 hours of community service.

Community Service Hours...

  • Must be pre-approved by a school counselor

  • Must NOT be financially compensated

  • May NOT be performed FOR A STUDENT’S FAMILY or for a PROFIT-MAKING (FOR-PROFIT) organization

Additional Info on Hours NOT Acceptable for Community Service: 

  • Family related activities or service to family members 

  • Hours compensated financially 

  • Hours tied to school activities where grades, extra credit or awards are involved (including athletics) 

  • Performances/practices for football games, chorus, theatre

  • ​Acting as team manager

  • Working at a concession stand

  • Court adjudicated service hours 

  • Service for the sole benefit of a religious house of worship and/or its congregation. Some activities sponsored by these organizations that benefit the community may be acceptable for Bright Futures (eg: working in a soup kitchen, community cleanup events, community health fairs, community dances or festivals, clerical support for social service activities) 

  • Donations (eg: Locks of Love, blood) 

  • Hosting or housing a foreign exchange student 

  • Fostering an animal in the home

Please complete the form below prior to beginning any community service activity
(IB juniors and seniors DO NOT complete the community service pre-approval form below because your community service should be counting for CAS and will be pre-approved through ManageBac)

After you finish your community service experience, please email the appropriate form(s) below to your school counselor. If you are provided with a letter/certificate from the organization you are volunteering with, you still need to submit one of the forms below (just also attach the letter/certificate when emailing in your hours).

Paxon Community Service Log & Reflection forms (for all AP students, IB Prep 9/10 students, and IB 11/12 students NOT counting the community service for CAS)

Paxon Community Service Log (for IB 11/12 students that are counting the community service for CAS and have documented the experience on ManageBac)

Paxon Work Hours Log (Hours MUST be completed within the district’s guidelines - starting August 15, 2022 and beyond)
