THINGS TO DO THE SUMMER BEFORE SENIOR YEAR

Narrow down your college search-A safe number is between 3-6 schools. Even if your dream is to go out of state, be sure that you apply to at least 1 Florida school.

Schedule campus visits-Seeing a college campus online versus in person are two totally different experiences. After you have narrowed down your list, make an effort to visit each school’s campus.

Start working on your college application essay(s)-Looking up the prompts will give you a head start to make sure they are completed before the application deadline.

Browse and apply for scholarships-Don’t shy away from applying for scholarships that require an essay or are for what you consider to be a small amount. Every little bit helps.

Complete the Paxon Letter of Recommendation Information form-This will ensure that your letter of recommendation can be completed in a timely manner (2 weeks advanced notice is required when requesting a letter).

Plan to take/re-take the SAT and/or ACT-You are encouraged to take both the SAT and ACT at least 1 time. Remember, most schools super score so retaking a test may benefit you in the end.

Continue working on community service (CAS for IB students)-Be sure to document on the Paxon Community Service form (IB students, continue documenting CAS on ManageBac)

Be mindful of your social media posts-Colleges are checking social media for applicants more and more.

Breathe-Preparing for senior year can be overwhelming. As long as you have a plan and don’t procrastinate, you will be graduation ready in no time!!!
