Emory University: Programming for underrepresented and/or first-gen students

CORE Virtual Series This year we are continuing our Cultural Outreach, Recruitment, and Education (CORE) Virtual Series. It was incredibly successful last year as a virtual program designed to support the recruitment of talented, high-achieving high school seniors who are either first-generation college students and/or from historically underrepresented cultural or socioeconomic backgrounds, including

  • Black/African American

  • Latinx/Hispanic

  • Underrepresented Asian Americans and Pacific Islander

  • Native/Indigenous

The CORE Virtual Series serves as an additional support system for students navigating the college application process and will provide monthly webinars, office hours, and faculty chats to participants. Through programming, we will help:

  • bridge educational gaps by engaging in conversations related to the admission process

  • build community for students who want a safe space for mentoring and encouragement in the application process

  • introduce the heart and culture of the Emory community

What is CORE Virtual Series?

The CORE Virtual Series will run from August through December 2021, supporting students all the way through the application process. Programming will include tailored webinars, drop-in office hours with admission staff, panels with current students, and faculty-led discussions. Students interested in CORE Virtual Series should complete the Participation Form.

Thank you again for sharing about this unique program with students who may be a good fit. We appreciate all you do! You or your students can contact us with any questions at admission@emory.edu.
