5). Women in Sports - Jacksonville Jaguars Shadow Opportunity
Starting this year, the Jaguars are opening 3 shadowing opportunities to high school or college-aged women with an interest in pursing a career in athletics at the highest level. The shadow program will take place June 6th – 10th and provides an insight into the day to day activities of a professional sports team as well as learning about various career fields and paths that exist. The selected candidates will observe events, meeting and communications from different mentors inside the Jaguars organization. Applications are only being accepted online. The deadline for submission is February 25th. Those identified to enter the process of selection, will be invited to do so via email the first two weeks in March.

7). SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY: Three Rivers Council Scholarship
The Three Rivers Council (TRC) of the JAX Chamber is pleased to offer a $1,000 college scholarship to a deserving high school student for the 2022-23 school year!
Requirements to qualify:
You must have a connection to the TRC (formerly West or North Council) region of Jacksonville, west of the St Johns River: either you live, attend school or one of your parents works in the demographic area.
You must have a cumulative high school GPA of at least 3.0.
You must be enrolled to attend an accredited two or four-year college in the fall of 2022.
You must complete this application in full, including a one-page essay about why you should be awarded the scholarship.
The application must be completed in this Word format (take as much room as you like to answer) and emailed to Barbara Vick at bvick@keiseruniversity.edu by May 15, 2022.
If selected, you must provide your high school transcript (or other proof of your graduation/GPA), proof of your SAT/ACT score(s) and proof of your college acceptance.
In addition, you must choose to attend one of the following TRC events in July or August to meet our members, introduce yourself and tell us about your college plans:

The scholarship will be awarded in two parts:
$500 for the fall semester and $500 for the spring semester.
In order to receive the spring semester award, you will need to provide proof that you earned at least a 2.5 GPA for the fall semester and that you completed at least 12 semester hours. The money will be deposited into the student’s account at the college.

8). SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY: Raymond A. Vinson Scholarship ($8000)
Before his death in 1992, Raymond A. Vinson was a nationally recognized credit union pioneer. To honor him, Community First annually awards $8,000 in scholarships* ($2,000 per student, renewable for four years) to five incoming college freshmen. The scholarship can be renewed by the student for up to four years giving the student a total award of $8,000. Apply by March 1, 2022 to be considered.
Eligible Applicants must:
Be a member or dependent of a member of Community First with an account in good standing for at least one year
Be an entering college freshman student and under the age of 24 at the application deadline
Demonstrate leadership ability and financial need
Attend a two-or-four-year public or private accredited college or university, preferably within the State of Florida
Have a high school grade point average of at least 3.0 (unweighted).
Recipient may continue the scholarship on an annual basis until graduation, not to exceed four years. A GPA of at least 2.5 freshman year and 3.0 each succeeding year are required for continued eligibility

A new club, the G.R.O.W. (Gain Resilience. Obtain Wellness.) Team is starting to promote mental health awareness for ALL on campus. If you are interested in planning activities to decrease the stigma of mental health concerns and help promote positive mental health, please email Ms. Clayton (claytond@duvalschools.org) for more information. For planning purposes, we will meet Thursdays so get your ideas ready for our first meeting. The GROW Team Ambassadors will be a small group of students working together to do BIG things at Paxon!
