SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY: 2023 CGCS-Bernard Harris Math and Science Scholarship
The Council of the Great City Schools is partnering with Dr. Bernard Harris to offer the CGCS-Bernard Harris Math and Science Scholarships Program for high school seniors who are planning to major in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math). Named after former astronaut, physician and businessman Bernard Harris, who was the first African American to walk in space, the scholarships are available to 2023 graduating seniors in urban school districts represented by the Council. Four $5,000 scholarships for two males and two females each will be awarded to two African American and two Hispanic seniors pursuing studies in STEM-related fields in college next fall. To apply for the 2023 scholarship, the application must be submitted online by April 10, 2023.
COMMUNITY SERVICE/CAS OPPORTUNITY: Volunteers Needed- Senior Valentine’s Day Luncheon
Council Member Tyrona Clark-Murray is hosting a Senior Valentine’s Day Luncheon for senior’s citizens on Friday, February 17th, and volunteers are needed. Volunteers can report to the Duval Extension Office, 1010 North McDuff Ave, at 8:30 a.m.; Volunteers are needed to help set up, escort seniors, and serve food.
