B-CU is extending a scholarship opportunity in the amount of $1000 for Graduating Seniors who reside in Duval or surrounding counties, have taken the SAT/ACT and earned a score of at least 1050/1, and have a minimum GPA of 3.0. Funds can be used for housing, books, dorm supplies, or any school related needs. Email your school counselor to receive the scholarship application.

The Horatio Alger Association will be awarding one $25,000 scholarship and several $10,000 scholarships to students in every state! The Association provides guidance and support, which is why they are now selecting high school JUNIORS so that they can provide additional assistance and preparation to all scholarship recipients. DEADLINE: March 15th Eligibility: • Be enrolled full time as a high school senior in the United States; be progressing normally toward graduation in spring/summer of 2023 with plans to enter a college in the United States no later than the fall following graduation • Exhibit a strong commitment to pursue and complete a bachelor’s degree at an accredited non-profit public or private institution in the United States (students may start their studies at a two-year institution and then transfer to a four-year institution) • Demonstrate critical financial need ($55,000 or lower adjusted gross family income is required) • Be involved in co-curricular and community service activities • Display integrity and perseverance in overcoming adversity • Maintain a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.0; and • Be a United States citizen

10). DCPS Student Web Designer - Applications Open Now
Do you know a current DCPS junior or senior high school student who would be interested in applying for paid work experience designing and editing district websites? One of the projects the students will be working on is the district’s African American History Task Force page, along with creating an online space for the student curriculum units developed last summer. We are now accepting student applications. Eligibility information along with responsibilities are posted within the application. The University of North Florida will be hosting Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) workshops this spring! Here’s what you can expect during this visit:

12). Health Career Exploration Tours
The Health Career Exploration Tours (HCET) program is hosted by Northeast Florida AHEC and will take place July 5th -29th, 2022. This year, HCET will be a hybrid program. Students will be paired with community sites like Community Health Outreach, Volunteers in Medicine, and other organizations that work with medically underserved populations for a portion of each week while the remainder of the week is hosted virtually on Microsoft Teams. This program virtual portion of will include of a series of professional presentations, interactive discussions, and team-based activities that will help students gain a better understanding of the medical field, learn about specific careers, and gain insight on public health topics. This program will include SAT/ACT preparation course and a two-day in-person experience at University of North Florida where students can stay overnight in the dorms. This will be our 7th year holding this FREE program. Application due: May 23rd, 2022.
13). Health Care Summer Institute (sponsored by University of Florida College of Medicine, Office for Diversity & Health Equity, and the Area Health Education Networks)
The Health Care Summer Institute (HCSI) is a four-week program sponsored by University of Florida College of Medicine, Office for Diversity & Health Equity, and the Area Health Education Networks (AHECs). The purpose of the program is to provide an academic enrichment opportunity to rising junior and senior high school students who are interested in entering health related fields such as medicine, dentistry, nursing, pharmacy, occupational and physical therapy.
HCSI participants have the opportunity to take an Introduction to the Health Professions course, attend educational lectures, shadow health care professionals, improve academic test taking skills in a series of SAT preparation courses, and participate in social and team building activities.
14). SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY: Healthcare or First Responder fields
The Pearl Mae Foundation gives annual scholarships of $1000 to students who want to pursue careers in health care or first responder fields to help support the increased demands of the growing senior population.
The student must be seeking a career in the healthcare or first responder fields (nursing, pre-med track, EMT, firefighter, police officer, etc..) Graduate students are also encouraged to apply (PA, MD, NP, MSN, etc..)
The 2022 scholarship application is NOW OPEN. The application will CLOSE on April 15th, 2022.
