1). Opportunity to transition to Paxon's IB program of study for the 2022-2023 school year
The IB Diploma programme at Paxon allows students to earn an internationally recognized education while also having the ability to earn college credit and scholarships. We would like to give the opportunity for students currently in the 9th grade at Paxon in the AP/Honors program to transition to the IB program of study for the 2022-2023 school year. We are looking for students who are:
Interested in making global connections within their subjects
Self-motivated (this does not mean that they must be a straight 'A' student)
Interested in opportunities to maximize college credit that may be earned (IB students may take the comparable AP exam for their IB subject without having to take the AP course).
Interested in scholarship opportunities (IB students who earn their IB diploma and have 100 service hours automatically qualify for the top Bright Futures scholarship and do not need the required 1330 SAT/29 ACT score or Bright Futures GPA)
If you are the parent/guardian of one of Paxon’s 9th grade students and interested in seeing whether your child may qualify to transition to Paxon’s IB Diploma program of study for the 2022-2023 school year, please complete the form below by Fri., Jan. 21st in order for them to receive more information about transitioning to IB at Paxon: https://forms.office.com/r/TB68m0xXk6

Sponsored by The Volen Group, Keller Williams Luxury International and Gwinn Volen, creator of the Focus blog, the scholarship is open to all high school seniors in Duval, Clay or St. Johns Counties who plan to continue their education after graduation. Last year’s winner wrote an article about the best mini donut shops in Northeast Florida, and the prior year, the winner showcased run routes in the area. Posts should be well-written, interesting articles about the greater Jacksonville community. Entries can be funny or serious, and the main point is for them to have a local flavor. The top five submissions will be published on the blog. Deadline for submissions is March 7, 2022. Students can apply and find more information at https://www.pontevedrafocus.com/scholarship/ or Email: pontevedrafocus@gmail.com

5). Mid-Year Reports/Transcripts (for seniors)
Please read below to understand whether or not you must put in a request for a mid-year transcript:
If you applied through Common App or SendEdu:
If you applied through Common App or SendEdu and your school requires a mid-year report/transcript, your school counselor will automatically upload this for you because they can view this information on their end.
If you applied a different way (ex. through the college/university website):
You will need to complete a transcript request through the Paxon School Counseling website (if you do not do this, a mid-year transcript will not be sent): https://paxonsas3075.wixsite.com/psasschoolcounselors/transcript-requests
What if my school does not require a mid-year report/transcript? Should I send one anyway? No. If they wanted that info, they would have asked for it. They are probably bogged down with paperwork/electronic files as it is and that's why they don't want a mid-year report/transcript. The only exception to this is if you have been waitlisted or want to demonstrate significant academic growth.
After spring break, the school counseling department will review with you the steps for submitting your final transcript (this will only be sent to one school....the college/university that you plan to attend). Stay tuned for more info!!!
