Please note: the UNF Guarantee Admissions program has an application deadline of 11/1 and the UNF Osprey Blue Scholarship requires a FAFSA submission by 12/1.

5). Does Your Student Need Help with the FAFSA?

Looking for help with the FAFSA? October 15 is the UNF priority deadline for the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), so please join the University of North Florida’s Office of Financial Aid at a FAFSA workshop! Here’s what you can expect during this visit:

· You will receive more information on Financial Aid and scholarships at UNF.

· You will be able to work on the FAFSA one-on-one with a Financial Aid counselor.

Advanced registration is required, and space is limited, so register today by filling out the form here.

9). Salvation Army Holiday Assistance - DEADLINE October 22nd!

If your family needs assistance for the upcoming holiday season, Salvation Army is here to help. Salvation Army is doing everything online this year. Families have to complete the information in the link (https://www.saangeltree.org/) and may also be required to upload a few documents.



10). SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY: UF Lombardi Scholar & Stamps Scholar

The University of Florida Honors Program is accepting applications for the Stamps Scholarship and the John V. Lombardi Scholarship. Both scholarships provide a financial stipend and four fully-funded summer enrichment experiences.


To be eligible for these programs, students must be nominated by high school administrators or counselors. High schools may nominate up to two students to be reviewed for these prestigious scholarships. The nomination form should be written by a counselor, administrator, or teacher that knows the student well.

Deadline for all materials: Sunday, November 14, 2021

Note that application to the University of Florida and the Honors Program is a separate process and that deadline is November 1. Transcripts and standardized test scores are reviewed by the Office of Admissions and are not required as part of the scholarship application.

Interested students are invited to attend an upcoming webinar, hosted by Honors Scholars. The 1-hour sessions will provide time for Q&A and allow prospective applicants to learn more about UF, the Honors Program, and these exciting scholarships. The first webinar is scheduled for Wednesday, October 13 from 5:30 - 6:30 PM and the second will take place Monday, October 25 between 6 – 7 PM.

11). FTSDC: TikTok Safe Driving Contest & Teen Driver Safety Week - Safe Driving Contest for Florida Students (Cash Prizes)

The Florida Teen Safe Driving Coalition has partnered with AAA – The Auto Club Group to raise awareness during Teen Driver Safety Week (October 17-23, 2021). We’re calling on all Florida high school students to send us your best (and most original) TikTok videos to educate and encourage safe driving behaviors among teens!

Contest Opens: October 6, 2021

Contest Closes: October 30, 2021

All entries must be submitted by October 30th to be eligible to win.


12). Howard University: Karsh STEM Scholars Program (KSSP)

The KSSP presents an opportunity for academically talented students interested in STEM fields to become thinkers, researchers, educators, and leading practitioners. The Karsh STEM Scholars Program incorporates key components such as mentoring, tutoring, in-group support, high expectations, financial support, personal advising and counseling, summer bridge, family support and study groups, which research has shown leads to student success in such programs. To be considered, students must have an overall grade point average of 3.30 or higher, at least a “B” average in college-preparatory science and mathematics courses, SAT scores: at least 600 on SAT math and a minimum combined score of at least 1250, ACT scores: minimum composite score of at least 26, ACT math score of at least 25 and be a U.S. citizen or a permanent resident. (SAT and/or ACT test scores are optional when applying for the 2021-22 admissions cycle.) Students must be nominated to take part in this opportunity. Please email your school counselor by Oct. 22nd if you are interested in attending Howard University and would like to be nominated for the KSSP.
