2). Davidson College Diversity & Access Opportunities

With the academic year now in full swing, we want to share information on our Diversity & Access initiatives taking place this fall:

  • Our Fall Admission Intensive workshop series will be taking place throughout September and October. These virtual workshops are free to attend and open to high school juniors and seniors.

  • Our two-day Access Davidson virtual visit program will be in October. The deadline to apply is Monday, September 27. Students will need to submit an online application, high school transcript, and senior class schedule for consideration.

Access Davidson is designed for high school seniors from traditionally underrepresented racial and ethnic groups, those who are the first in their family to attend college, and students from rural or low-income backgrounds. We are excited to connect with your students in the months ahead and we wish you a safe and healthy fall.

Best,

Marlene Arellano (she/her)

7). 2022 Senate Page Program

The 2022 Senate Page Program application is now available. Each year the Florida Senate welcomes young students from across the state to participate in the Senate Page Program. The program has been a part of the Senate tradition for many years and provides an excellent opportunity for young Floridians to take part in the legislative process during the 60-day regular session. This opportunity is available to any high school student (private, public, home-schooled, or virtual school) who is at least 15 to 18 years of age by the first day of their assigned week, between January 10th thru March 7th 2022. During their assigned week, Senate Pages will assist members of the Florida Senate by distributing materials and messages, learn about the legislative process through a hands-on approach, and experience a "mock session" in which students role-play as Senators and engage in debating, discussing and voting on legislation. Senate pages will receive 40 hours of community service or a $250 stipend, which will be mailed to them after they have completed their scheduled week. Visit (https://senatepages.flsenate.gov/) to apply. Students please note that applications are processed in the order received. All online applications must be submitted no later than Thursday, September 30, 2021. If you and your young person are interested in this valuable program, please contact 904-359-2553 for any assistance.
